REVIEW:MTN FA CUP MATCHES

The first five efforts in a every penalty shoot-out usually decides the tie but on Sunday in Ghana's MTN FA Cup, it had to travel four-times that number.

A total of 40 kicks were needed to decide the preliminary round fixture between Bubiashie Charity Stars vs Dreams FC.

After drawing 1-1 in regulation time, Charity Stars edged Dreams FC in a marathon penalty shootout 20-19 to advance to the Round of 64 of the competition.

Dreams saw their 20th kick saved before Abubakar Yahaya claimed hero status when he scored the decisive kick to hand his team victory.

Elsewhere, the hopes of Techiman City were crashed during penalties.

After holding Bazooka to a goalless draw at the Wa Stadium, they were undone when Bazooka claimed a 3-2 win during the shoot-out.

Former Cup holders, Nania FC are through to the next round after defeating Tema Youth 1-0 while Okwawu United edged D'International by a similar scoreline.

At the Accra Stadium, there were no wonders for Great Olympics, who have been sent packing from the competition following their 1-0 loss to Mighty Jets.

A second half goal by Benjamin Tetteh helped the Tudu side to victory.

Istanbul were 1-0 winners over Zaytuna in Koforidua while Pure Joy won 1-0 against King Solomon.

At the Aquinas Park, Sporting Mirren lost 1-2 against Danbort.
