Ghanasportsonline
can exclusively reveal that telecommunication network Vodafone Ghana is set to
sponsor the Ghana Premier League.
Officials
of the FA and Vodafone came to agreement on Wednesday evening with the
telecommunication company deciding to sponsor the league with an amount
reported to be in the region of 5million dollars.
Reports
says Vodafone were in contention with another telecommunication network, Airtel
Ghana, but the FA settled with the 2nd leading telecommunication
network in the country.
The
league has faced a lot of critics over the last few month due to the
unavailability of Sponsorship deals as many clubs many clubs have threatened to
redraw from the League.
The
FA terminated it’s contract with Nigeria’s telecommunication network Globacom
after officials of Glo failed to pay a reported amount of money to the FA prior
to the start of the 2013/2014 League season.
The
Ghana Premier League is currently on break and will resume on the 9th
of February 2014.
