Acting
General manager of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Opoku Nti has categorically stated
that the team has no intentions of boycotting or redrawing from the Ghana
Premier League as indicated by reports .
There
have been media reports over the few weeks that the porcupine warriors are
planning to redraw from the domestic league due to the lack of sponsorships and
funds for the League. But Opoku Nti says all those rumors are false.
“The
report is not true. We have no such ambition. We have not met any club to take
such a decision. I am telling you that we won’t take such a decision. What I
know is that the clubs have a meeting on Wednesday, which Kotoko will attend
but that doesn’t mean we will support a league boycott” Opoku Nti said.
“We
will not boycott the competition. That report is frivolous. It can’t be taken
serious. I encourage our supporters to treat it with the contempt it deserves
because it is completely false” .
Kotoko
are currently the league leaders and will be hoping to maintain their spot at
the top when the League resumes on the 9th of February 2014.
