The Technical Director of the Ghana
Tennis Association, David Churcher has revealed his Asscociation’s plans to
meet with the officials of Interplast to suggest a spreading of the Plastic
Pipe producer’s sponsorship monies for this year’s Accra Tennis Open
Championship to ensure more tennis competitions are organized throughout the
year
.
Interplast have two more years on their three year sponsorship deal with
Ghana Tennis Association worth GHC 162,000. In 2013, Interplast spent GHC
18,000 in rewarding the four top players of the Accra Tennis Open, with the
champion Robert Kpodo claiming the top prize of GHC 10,000.
Following the
successful organization of the event last year, Ghanaian tennis players have
been inactive due to lack of competitions. Coach David Churcher believes
spreading the annual sponsorship monies into the organization of more
competitions and tennis clinics will make the Ghana Tennis more vibrant this
year.
