MATCH REPORT:DWARFS 2-2 KOTOKO

MATCH REPORT FROM THE ROBERT MENSEH SPORTS STADIUM:CAPE COAST

It was a cagy encounter at the Cape Coast Robert Mensah Stadium when Cape Coast based Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs took on League Leaders Asante Kotoko in the week 15 of the Ghana Premier League.

Going into this game under new coach Rashid Iddi,Dwarfs were hoping to improve on their poor performance at home this season with a  win over the defending Champions.Kotoko on the otherhand were hoping to improve on their impressive form and probably stretch their lead at the top of the League Log.

Dwarfs Coach Iddi,made a couple of changes to the side that drew 1-1 with New Edubiiase last week as top striker Richard Gadze made a come back to the starting line up after missing their last two games.Fredrick Boateng also came in for Bright Lukman.While midfielder Francis Atoquaye also made a comeback to the starting line up after missing the lat game through injury.
Kotoko Coach,Mas-Ud-Didi Dramani also made a couple of changes from his squad that beat Medeama 4-1,as Full back Ben Adama got a starting place at the left back position.Striker Abdul Yusif Aziz also got a place in the starting line up.

It was Dwarfs who started on a bright note when Fredrick Boateng and Richard Gadze played a nice one two in the 2nd min,but the later blew it over the bar.

Fredrick Boateng gave a good account of himself as he opened the scoring in the 5min when he pounced in a loose ball to slot in from close range following a free kick from the left hand side of defence.

Dwarfs went 2-0 up 4min later after when striker Richard Gadze headed home a corner kick from Faisal Gambo in the 9th min after poor marking from the Kotoko defence.

Kotoko however took control of the game from the 10thmin as they began to pile pressure on the Cape Coast lads.The Porcupine worriors took total control of the midfield and finally pulled one back in the 23rd min through Abdul Yusif Aziz following a calmly laid on pass from Saidu Bancey.

From then the Fabolous boys kept on piling pressore in search of the equalizer and Abdul Yusif forced Dwarfs goalkeeper Patrick Antwi to pull out a wonder save after the attacker stuck from 25 yards.

In the 33rd min,Kotoko captain Amos Frimpong also stuck a low shot  from outside of his boots across the face of goal but no one could connect.
The first half however saw Kotoko dominating the entire game but went into the break 2-1 down as referee FB Bortey brought the first half to an end.

Kotoko continued from where they ended as they again started the 2nd half very strong.In the 50th min they came close to equalize after Price Baffoe  pounced on a rebound with a well taken volley,but went just over the bar.

In the 60th min,Francis Atoquaye's shot was timely saved by Joseph Addo.Dwarfs went ahead to threaten Kotoko in the 66th min when striker Richard Gadze took on Kotoko defender Kwabena Edusei  and struck a left footed shot but went just wide.

Kotoko finally had their breakthrough in the 68th min after Saidu Bancey slotted in a loose ball following a deflection from a Kwabena Edusei free kick.

Dwarfs Coach Rashid Iddi brought on Daniel Gomez for Nicholas Gyan to strenghten his midfield.Kotoko Coach Didi Dramani also responded to that change bringing on Micheal Akuffo for Abdul Aziz who had looked pretty much good in the game.

In the 77min Richard Gadze's who had been Dwarfs man of the match left footed shot saw Joseph Addo right on his spot.

Dwarfs seemed to have come into the game from then and in the 86th min,Daniel Gomez saw his shot side netting after some sweet exchange of passes.Kotoko Captain Amos Frimpong responded with 2min later but had his shot going wide.

The game finally came to an end when Accra based referee FB Bortey blew the final whistle after 4min of additional as both teams shared spoils.

The draw however still sees Kotoko on top of the Log with 34points while  Dwarfs lie at the 15th position with 16 points.
